Phem V., 30, is married with three school-aged children. She resides in Kampong Chnang Province, Cambodia with her husband and children. To make a living, she runs a dessert selling business, earning about $4 per day. Her husband always helps her with the business. Also he provides taxi services in town with his motorbike, earning about $5 a day to help cover the family expenses, when the motorbike is working. V. and her husband strive to improve their standard of living and generate a better income. Therefore, V. requests a loan of $600 to purchase a new motorbike for her husband because the old motorbike is not reliable and often breaks down.
