Ali is a 26-year-old married man with two young children. Twelve years ago he started transporting goods for a store in the neighborhood and in 2004 when he could afford to buy his own van he started a business transporting goods for several stores in his village. Today, Ali is requesting a loan of $1,200 in order to replace the trunk of the van so that he can safely and cleanly transport goods.
