Françoise
D. Françoise was born in 1957 in Cotonou, the economic capital of Benin.  She is married and the mother of five children who are all in school.  For nearly 15 years, she has been living alone in the Kowégbo district and is the sole breadwinner of the family. 

Françoise has never been to school.  To support herself, she sells alcoholic drinks (liqueurs), as well as a variety of goods (cookies, candy, tissues, etc.) in Kowégbo.  She has 30 years of experience in this domain.  Dantokpa, the international market of Benin, is where she makes her purchases. 

She is a previous ALIDé client who repays her loans.  With regard to bolsteiring her sales of liqueurs and increasing her working capital, she's requesting a fourth loan from ALIDé.

Françoise vit seule au quartier Kowégbo depuis près de 15 ans, et supporte seule les charges de la famille. Françoise n’a jamais été à l’école. Pour satisfaire ses besoins, Françoise vend des boissons alcoolisées (liqueurs) ainsi que divers produits (biscuits, bonbons, papiers mouchoirs, etc.) à Kowégbo. Françoise a 30 ans d’expérience dans ce domaine. C’est à Dantokpa, marché international du Bénin que Françoise fait ses achats. Françoise est une ancienne cliente de ALIDé qui rembourse bien ses crédits. C’est dans l’optique de renforcer la vente des liqueurs et d’augmenter son fonds de roulement que Françoise sollicite un quatrième crédit auprès de ALIDé.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late.
