Laure Damienne
Laure Damienne Z. was born on 14 April, 1969, and has lived for a dozen years in Cocotomey in Abomey Calavi, not far from Cotonou, the economic capital of Benin. Laure Damienne is married to Elie Kodjo. The couple have four children in their care, of whom two are their own and are in school. Laure Damienne lives with her husband and children. Both husband and wife provide for the family. Laure Damienne stopped her education very early on, and for the past 20 years she has been a dressmaker. Laure Damienne also sells sewing items in her workshop in Cocotomey. Laure Damienne gets her supplies at Dantokpa, the international market in Benin, and in Nigeria, a country bordering Benin. Laure Damienne has already benefited from one loan through ALIDÉ (one of Kiva's field partners), which she repaid properly. Laure Damienne hopes to gather enough funds to go and get supplies in Nigeria and enlarge her shop. This is why Laure Damienne is seeking a second loan through ALIDÉ.

About Alidé

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. For more information, please refer to Alidé's partner profile page.
