Marino is 37 years old and lives at home with his two children. He is a farmer and each day he walks around his banana and coffee crops with the purpose of being attentive of the diseases that could overtake his plants. He is very fond of his crops and is very happy with the work that he does.

Frequently, Marino uses the machete to cut off the shrubs of his small banana farm, and works from 7 in morning to 5 in the evening; with the help of his wife, he feels that the work is less tedious.

For this family, the two crops are very profitable. The coffee in its season gives them very good earnings but the banana crop is sold every weekend and it is with this that he buys food for his family. Because of this, Marino takes such good care of his plants to protect them against infestations and insects.

This is his second loan with MFP (Kiva’s field partner) and he is committed to pay every one of his quotas so that he can keep the support of his communal bank. Marino will use the money to buy chemical fertilizers to fertilize his banana plants.
