Suy N., age 37, is married to Hong Hol, 39, and they are villagers living in Siem Reap Province. They own a larger size farm where they plant green beans to earn a living. In addition, this couple have always bought the nearby neighbor’s beans to resell and gain additional income. The family lives with two teenage children, who attend the local high school. Suy N. would like to use the kiva loan as capital in order to purchase green bean from other growers and resell them to raise income.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
