Seab
Fishing is the most important part of 25-year-old Seab S.’s daily work. She and her husband have been living on a fishing boat on the river for more than nine years. This couple wake up every morning, drives their boat toward the middle of the river, and then fishes. After the fishing is done, they hurry to bring their fish to the market and sell to their regular buyers on credit. They collect their money after their buyers sell all of the fish that they bought.

Seab S. and her husband also support their two children who are enrolled in school. Seab S. is not comfortable, because her house often needs to be repaired. She would like a loan to repair her old house.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
