Ourn's Group
In this Group: Ourn, Van
This is a small loan request for two borrowers. The leader, Mr. Ourn A., age 33, is a basket seller. He sells baskets his wife makes or buys them from other basket weavers. Ourn A. currently lives with his two young children who attend school and help weave bamboo baskets for sale. Ourn A. sells his products very well because he sells at a reasonable price. Recently, part of his inventory has been sold. He hopes to acquire more stock to continue selling, but he doesn't have enough money. Therefore, he would like a loan to order baskets from other weavers to sell.

The other borrower, Mr. Van B., is a bamboo basket seller who is requesting a loan to buy more baskets to sell. Van B.'s wife is in the photo.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
