Mais N. is a 34-year-old farmer who lives with his wife and two sons in the Southern part of Azerbaijan, in Sabirabad. Mais raises cattle and sells them for meat product to the local traders. He has 11 years of experience in raising and selling cattle. Mais 's cattle are in very high demand in his village; however two calves is not enough to meet the demand. Mais is, therefore, applying for a loan of 1606 AZN to purchase additional cattle and fodder. Mais is very grateful to everyone who is helping him to improve his standard of living through this loan.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
