Lydia is forty-seven years old. She is married and has given birth to seven children, all of whom are in school. She lives with her children and husband in a rented apartment in a busy commercial town called Ejura in the Ashanti region of Ghana. She works to help her husband financially to provide for the family. Lydia is a food vendor. She cooks and sells rice with stew. She sells by the road side in the afternoons. She procures the goods from nearby towns. Lydia has been in business for over twenty years and wants a loan to procure bags of rice and other ingredients in bulk. She is hopeful of giving her children the best education she can afford.
