'The Kanouya group belonging to the Dounkafa Association, made up of married women from the town of Tominian, a prefecture of the Ségou region (fourth administrative region of the Republic of Mali). They live in traditional families and have an average age of 28 and on average, at least 3 children each.

The women of this Kanouya group sell cooked food and various retail items in order to earn income. To make their businesses more productive, the members of this Kanouya group decided to join the loan program of the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso, with whom they are on their first loan.

This loan will be used to buy condiments, rice, and a lot of other ingredients for cooked food, a business which earns these women a good income. They sell their cooked dishes generally for cash to a varied clientele.

Each of the members of the Kanouya group expects to make a monthly profit of 15,000 to 30,000 F CFA which will be used to reimburse the interest on the loan and for current family expenses.
