Em S., 40, is a widow with two young children. She lives in Phnom Penh. Since 1991, she has been making and selling cakes at the local market to earn a living. She is able to make about US$5 of profit every day and is aided by one of her children who is a garment factory worker. Em S. would like to take out a loan of US$600. She needs to purchase rice and more ingredients to make her cakes.
