Errol
Errol R. V. is 45 years old, is in a common-law relationship and has no children. He wants to buy merchandise that he can then sell in his small store. He has been in this business for many years and would like to expand. He also owns a farm, where he grows coffee. This is his first loan with FUDECOSUR and he has not had any loans with any other banks in the past. He wants to grow his business and farm, to do this he has to buy clothing for resale and fertilizers for the farm land to improve the crop harvest. This loan will allow him to provide a safer home for any children that he might have in the future.

More information about this loan

FUDECOSUR works in one of the poorest regions of Costa Rica, where microfinance institutions (MFIs) are scarce or have a hard time keeping up with demand for small loans. By providing mostly agricultural loans, FUDECOSUR reaches rural borrowers that many MFIs consider to be too risky. However, this has also made it more difficult for the organization to find stable sources of capital to lend. Kiva's flexible, risk-tolerant capital plays a critical role in helping FUDECOSUR grow its portfolio and support even more borrowers.

About FUDECOSUR:
