Yola América
7 ½ years ago, América C. Garcia started cooking and selling hamburgers in Ayacucho, Peru, to supplement her husband’s income and help support their 3 children. She was granted her first loan with FINCA Peru five years ago, and has been a model banker ever since. She cherishes the opportunity for conversation with friends at her weekly meetings, as well as the health, social, and economic lessons that are incorporated into each.

With the seed money loaned to her, América was able to expand her business, and began also selling beverages. A few years ago her husband joined her to help with the expanding business. What was once a small hamburger cart has expanded into a bustling, two-room restaurant with 14 tables. Now that América has so much more space, she would like to use the money from her next loan to make small repairs and improvements to her restaurant, such as fixing a broken door adjoining the two dining rooms.
