Luisa is the treasurer of the San Rafael Group. “Determination and charisma" are qualities that 68-year old Luisa has demonstrated. She is happily married, and she has four children who are independent. She has worked with Edaprospo-Prosperidad for over one year. During that time her business has grown, and she has opened others.

Forty years ago, Luisa worked in Customs for more than four years. It went very well for her. However, there was a change in the government. That change caused massive firings in many work centers. This also happened where Luisa worked. Finding herself without work was unexpected. She felt obliged to earn her living in another way.

She did not have much money, so she started her business in her own house. First she sold potatoes, onions, tomatoes, and other fruits and vegetables. Time passed and she started selling fish. To do so she had to get up at 3:00 a.m. to go to the terminal to buy it.

Having money saved from her business, she decided to apply her technical training--cutting and sewing. She bought a sewing machine to do this. She put it in her house, and that is how her small shop started. With help from her daughters, she devoted years to her shop. She bought other sewing machines and her business grew. It brought good earnings, and she saved.

With help from her husband, who works in construction, they decided to build a second floor on their house. They planned to rent out the second floor when it was finished. That way they would have more income for the family.

Years passed, and their children became independent. Luisa now has employees in her shop. They rent the second floor, and they are starting to build a third. She bought a car to rent out.

She works with us because she wants to make her dreams, which are to finish building the third floor and rent it out as well, come true. She wants to buy a minivan to provide school transportation. She also wants to travel the world. She dreams that someday she will do these things because she has “determination and charisma, the tools of winners.”

Sra.
