A loan of $600 helped purchase a calf & fodder.

Lourdes's story

Lourdes is a hardworking young woman. She is 23 years old and lives in her own home with her husband Gregorio (age 27), and their two sons William (age 6) and Jonatan (age 4). Her family is the reason behind all of her efforts. Lourdes has been raising cattle most of her life. She learned the trade from her parents, who tried to provide her with a good life.

She sells her livestock at the Sunday fair in Azangaro District. Since she takes great care in raising her cattle, Lourdes is able to command good prices because her animals are the largest and strongest in the entire fair. She has been in business for 10 years and enjoys feeding her animals. The most difficult part for her is transporting her animals to the fair because it can be a tiring and time-consuming activity. Yet she knows that she must continue to work hard to obtain her goals. In the future, Lourdes would like to increase the number of cattle in her herd so that she can improve her income.

This is her second loan with MFP. Lourdes feels she has a responsibility to make her payments on time, even if it means setting aside some money a little bit at a time. She is an active and supportive member of her Communal Bank, which is why she is highly respected by the rest of the group. With her loan of 1700 soles, she plans to buy a calf (for 1000 soles) and fodder for the rest of animals.
