With this loan from Kiva partner CIDRE, Grover will invest in more cattle so he can produce a greater quantity of milk. With the extra income, Grover hopes that he can help his elderly mom and improve their standard of living. As he is his mother's only son, he had to leave his studies in order to help her tend to the difficult and laborious work on the farm.
In the future, he hopes to finish high school and build a career for himself. Above all, Grover wants to make sure that his elderly mother has enough money to be able to retire. He also hopes to help her expand her home, as a way of repaying her for all the help she has given him over the years.
About CIDRECIDRE is a Bolivian microfinance institution with a strong social commitment to the community. It works to provide quality financial services to rural and peri-urban borrowers, focusing primarily on agricultural loans for dairy farmers and micro-enterprises. CIDRE targets segments of the population that have not traditionally had access to credit, and invests in much-needed community development projects. It is currently working with coca farmers in the Chapare region to replace coca with less controversial crops. Get more involved by joining the Friends of CIDRE lending team.
