Edgardo C. is from the village of Gingoog City. He is 41 years old. Edgardo is married and has three grown children. To make a living, Edgardo owns and operates a business in the local community, selling seafood products including fish and shrimp. Edgardo has been engaged in his business for over two years and earns approximately $66 a month from these activities.
In 2009, Edgardo joined HSPFI to gain access to financial services to help improve his living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Edgardo has successfully repaid a previous loan of 5000 PHP from HSPFI. This previous loan was used to purchase new items to expand his product offering. Edgardo is requesting a new loan of 8000 PHP which will be used to purchase additional products to sell. This will be his second loan from HSPFI. He plans to use the additional revenue that is generated to expand his business.
HSPFI is one of the accredited partners of Opportunity International in the Philippines. It is based in Cagayan de Oro City and is reaching out to the poor households of Northern Mindanao.
