Sai S. is 48 years old widower man and father. Sai S. is a local cultivator who has been farming rice since 2000. He has now four single children, and they live together in a medium house located in Banteay Meanchey Province. Sai S. is a sacrificing and determined man who tries to earn money to feed his children since they were very young. He has encouraged his two children to attain suitable jobs: his daughter is selling grocery item from home and other one son raises poultry for a profit, and they both provided their income to support their family’s daily living expenses. Sai S. is taking out his loan as capital to be allowed to his daughter to order more her grocery inventories for sale.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
