Beatriz
View original language description ↓
Beatriz C. Beizaga, a married woman with 5 school-aged children, used to earn her living from a food stand precariously set up in her home.

Poor sales and competition made it impossible for her to realize her dreams of getting ahead and seeing her children well prepared for the difficulties of everyday life.

Beatriz began to partner with Pro Mujer almost 5 years ago, receiving a micro loan that allowed her to stock her tiny food stand, though without the success she'd hope for. Thanks to the guidance she received at Pro Mujer, she decided to change direction and began selling stuffed animals. This business has given her the opportunity to stay with the association for more than 8 years.

At the moment Beatriz needs to travel outside Bolivia to buy merchandise so that she can prepare her sales stall for the end-of-.year holidays.

Translated from Spanish by Erin Corcoran, Kiva volunteer.
