Señora Natalia is 51 years old and lives in Donaciano Ojeda, a small community of indigenous people in the municipality of Zitacuaro, in the state of Michoacán. In this place people organize themselves to monitor their community forest; they form tree conservation brigades to protect the environment, because it's where they get food and raw material for handicrafts. Nati, as she is called by her family, has three minor children, the youngest of which is 9 years old. She has not lived with her husband for some years; as a result she assumed the responsibility for her children and since then she has worked hard to support her family. Señora Natalia wishes to invest in the handcrafted production of ocoshal (beautiful pieces made of woven pine fibers collected from the forest) and in transportation to sell these handicrafts in other regions. Nati normally collects the dry pine fibers on her own in the forest after this material has fallen off of the trees, and then transforms these fibers into beautiful handcrafted pieces with a very natural aroma. She wishes to continue investing in this activity and aspires to have sufficient resources to achieve its commercialization in other regions where there are no sales. Señora Natalia joined the group "El pino de Ocoshal" (The Pine of Ocoshal) because she knows all of the members of the group and describes them as responsible and hardworking people who are dedicated to the production of this craft and the cultivation of avocados.
