Hun L. is a single woman, 51 years old, lives in Siem Reap Province. Hun L. now lives with her sister, who works raising poultry and works with her in the farming business. Hun L. currently owns a cultivating machine that she uses for her farming. In addition, she uses her machine to plow a nearby farmer’s farmland for profit. Hun L. is taking out her loan to buy gasoline for her machine and she purposes to use the rest of the loan to accrue amount of fertilizers and seeds for growing.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
