A 32 years old man K. had married to Sophea, 28, who is a garment worker and gave birth to two children all of whom are still young. K. owns a local glass shop providing services of cutting and fitting to the window, door, cupboard, etc. His wife also raises piglets in the stall behind her house and produces the local white wine as it has beneficial for the piglets food too. She always asks her husband for help during the distilling. K. is taking a loan to buy a number of piglets for her wife. He dreams of having a degree for his children.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
