A loan of $1,100 helped to buy Irish potato seedlings, tomato seedlings, to rent land, and purchase manure.

Augustine's story

Augustine is a married man with two children who are over the age of 15, and live in a three bedroom house. He has gone through so much pain in his life that he would not love to remember. These obstacles include: struggling with his children’s basic need for school, premature death in the family, and ill health too.

He joined GHAPE in the year 2008 and has been a member for eight years. He has successfully taken and repaid the empowerment credit six times. With this EC, he will be able to purchase more Irish potato seedlings and tomatoes seedlings, rent land, and purchase manure, in order to increase his yield and add to his farm output. He thinks his farming will succeed because he has been in the business for long, and has a good knowledge of the agriculture.

The profits from his business will be used to increase his business and help his children have a better life or used for unforeseen circumstances. He prefers taking a loan from GHAPE due to its low interest rate, easy repayment and advice on business tactics as well as quick disbursement of empowerment credit.

This loan is special because:

It is coupled with multi-faceted trainings to support the poorest in Cameroon.
