Samuel Vásquez is married and 58 years old. He has a small business selling ice cream. He lives with his wife and children. He and his wife work in the same trade; for 12 years they have sold ice cream from their residence which is located in the hamlet of Chotacaj, in the village of Vásquez in the Totonicapán region of Guatemala. Currently the demand from his customers is growing, but he is not able to raise capital due to the economic conditions in his area. For this reason he has turned to the ASDIR Association to request a loan to be used to buy raw materials. In this manner he can increase his sales. Also, he hopes to move his family ahead economically so that they can have a better quality of life.
