Frank K. is the leader of his lending group in Lugazi. He is 49 years old and married with six children between the ages of 21 years and only 4 months, due to the fact that he cares for some of his siblings. All of his children are in school, with the firstborn at the University and the rest in secondary and primary schools. Frank has a retail shop in Lyabana county. He opened this business five years ago, and he is able to make about $78 in profits a week. He hopes that after transforming his shop into wholesale sales, he will be able to earn big money so that he can start a farm and raise poultry for increased earnings. He is a very hard working and determined man. He needs to increase his shop's profits so that the school fees payment will be manageable.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
