Esther is a 35-year-old woman. She is married and is the mother of five children, all of whom are currently in school in the community where they live.
Esther is a food vendor and sells banku with soup. Banku is prepared from milled maize grains and it is taken with hot pepper or soup. Esther has many customers since banku is enjoyed by many Ghanaians as breakfast, lunch and supper.
Esther wants to use the loan to buy more raw materials like bags of maize, meat, fish, vegetables and firewood. She hopes to raise an increased income to support her business and to include the sale of cereals in bags to her customers. She saves some of her earnings as an investment for the future.
