Rubens Manuel M. nasceu na cidade de xai-xai (provincial de gaza a 230 km de Maputo), tem 50 anos de idade, casado e pai de 4 filhos com idades compreendidas entre 8 e 18 anos. Todos estudam. Rubens não concluiu o terceiro ano na escola comercial de xai-xai para começar a trabalhar para auto-sustento. Vive com a família na casa própria e a esposa estuda nas aulas de alfabetização de adultos.

Saiu de xai-xai para maputo a procura de melhores condições de vida e conseguiu emprego na empresa de caminhos de ferro de Moçambique, onde é reformado. Estava afecto na estação de comboios de boane na revisão de materiais. Ganha como pensão, 2.500,00MT. Para alem deste valor, recebe mais 2.400,00MT provenientes dos trabalhos que faz na casa da juíza do tribunal distrital de boane como segurança.

Nunca teve empréstimos em bancos e este vai ser o seu primeiro credito no valor de 12.000,00MT para reabilitar a cobertura da sua casa, comprando chapas de zinco e barrotes. Espera reembolsar o credito sem problemas para poder aceder a mais empréstimos com objectivo de fazer um aviário.
