Veronica came to the U.S. from El Salvador and worked for a house-cleaning company for three years before realizing that she had the skills and knowledge to start her own business. Using her savings, she purchased the small amount of equipment she needed and has been hard at work on her own for four years.
Veronica needs a $1,000 loan to purchase a computer that will allow her to do more online advertising, keep track of her finances, and allow her to spend more time with her two year old daughter. In the future, Veronica hopes to expand her business by adding employees so that she can dedicate more time to completing her high school education.
Veronica’s ultimate goal is to go to college and become an engineer. She feels that receiving this small loan from Opportunity Fund is the first step on her path to success.
Kiva realizes that access to credit is a challenge for entrepreneurs everywhere. Kiva started out as a website focused on developing-world entrepreneurs. In June 2009, Kiva began experimenting with allowing entrepreneurs in the United States to raise money on its website. If this is something you support, please feel free to fund this loan.
