A loan of $7,900 helps a member to buy rice, pasta, and oil in bulk.

Las Lomas Group's story

The communal banking group "Las Lomas" will begin its 11th loan cycle with Kiva's field partner Pro Mujer. It is part of the Focal Center of the Andes and is made up of eight group members and directed by a board of which Elizabeth is the President.

This loan will be used to benefit micro-businesses like that run by Elizabeth. Currently she has a business selling food. She notes that she learned this business on her own initiative a few years ago.

The loan that she receives will be used to increase capital in order to buy rice, pasta, and oil in bulk. She will acquire these items from bulk sellers in the city of La Paz and then resell the items from her store.

This form of work allows her to generate income to support her family economically since she is single and has three children.

In this group: Elizabeth , Laura, Rufina, Elizabeth, Juana , Jorge Antonio , Sonia, Karelia
