A loan of $6,550 helps a member to buy wool at wholesale.

Dorcas Group's story

The “Dorcas” communal bank will start on their third Pro- Mujer cycle as a part of the Centro Focal Copacabana. It has eight members and is managed by a board of directors. Tomasa is its president.

The loan they will take out will benefit micro-enterprises such as Tomasa's. Currently she has a business selling blankets. She remarks that she learned this business on her own a number of years ago.

The loan that she will take out now will be to increase funds to buy wool at wholesale. She will buy it from wholesalers around the city of La Paz, later processing and marketing it in her sales space.

This kind of work allows her to generate the resources to support her family financially, as she is single and has six children

In this group: Tomasa, Juan , Julia, Yasmin Pamela, Amalia Martha, Reynaldo , Sonia, Juana Rosalia
