Emma T. is 34 years old and married to Welmer, a fisherman by occupation. They raise four children in the village of Poblacion, Leon B. Postigo. They sustain their family through fishing activity wherein her husband operates their small fishing boat and she ( Emma) is the one responsible in selling the caught fish on the market.
She is planning to purchase new fishing net in their newly acquired boat. She is very optimistic that they can generate more income if they can have another net.
She has been a good member in the cooperative since her affiliation. She is now utilizing her second loan cycle and proves to be of great help in their livelihood activities.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
