Sra. Norma Borja De Toribio is the president of the Grupo Obras. She is in the business of making clothing and costumes. She tells us that she initially began making costumes for school children, and in order to obtain clients, she attended different high schools in her town of Callao to offer her services. She also did work for a bridal store, but little by little she decided to continue with her own business of renting costumes, until she succeeded in making herself well known. Currently she has her own tailoring shop which she is dedicated to full-time. This way, she helps her husband who works as a taxi driver. Together they both support their three children in their university education.
Sra. Norma is also venturing into another business, which is the sale of tuna, which she does on Saturdays and Sundays in the market. She feels that little by little she is reaching her goals, one of which is to finish building her house, and to make it, as she says "very pretty". With this loan from EDAPROSPO, she will continue investing in her business, so that she will be able to continue growing and producing that which makes her very happy.

*Sra. Norma appears very cheerful seated amongst all of her OBRAS group colleagues.

Update on Group Obras

Entrepreneur: Obras Group
Location: Location Undisclosed, Peru

While this loan has ended, we thought you might enjoy hearing about how one of it's members is doing with her current loan. We had the opportunity to meet with Senora Magna of group Obras today to ask how her loan was going. Senora Magna was excited to see us and offered to spend a few minutes with us to catch up. Senora Magna recently had an accident where she broke her foot and so has had difficulty working. Still she has managed to stay punctual with her payments. Senora Magna used her loan for her general store, stocking up with merchandise for the summer season. She hopes to continue to grow by offering low prices and congenial service to her customers to compete against other stores in the area. Finally, she wishes her youngest daughter will finish her studies.
