A loan of $1,000 helped a member to buy fertilizer and rice seeds to improve her rice farming so it grows well.

Sambath's Group's story

Sambath is 30 years old and married. She lives with her family in a village in Preah Vihear province. She is a mother whom is blessed with two children, one of whom is still in school and the other one is too young.

Sambath earns a living through rice growing and also works for others for a small fee to supplement her income. She has been involved with her current business for 8 years, which can help her to keep up about 4 US dollar per day for future needs. Her rice did not grow well this year because it was destroyed by insects.

This is Sambath's third time loan with VisionFund; she has paid back her past loans completely. Via the previous loans, her family’s living has improved. Now, Sambath is leading a group of two members in applying for this new loan. As the group leader, she will use her portion of the loan to purchase fertilizer and rice seeds to support her farming.

Sambath hopes that she can gain a better yield than before.
