A loan of $400 helps to pay for manual laborers and products for maintaining his plantation.

Gerard's story

Gerard is a 36 year old married man and father of 4 children, whose ages vary between 2 and 10 years old. He has been a farmer in his village for years. He specialized in growing cacao and has made his career out of that.

He is able to meet his family's needs because of this cacao plantation. Three of his children are still in school. He has one cacao field and would like it to have a better yield in order to take better care of his family. He is requesting a loan to be able to pay manual labor to his workers, who are going to help him to clear his field, as well as the maintenance products for his plantation, which will allow him to avert insects and plant diseases. This could help him increase production. The money coming from sales of his produce will allow him to buy new cacao plants to extend his field.
