A loan of $1,075 helped to purchase fertilizers and manure for his crops.

Elias's story

Elías lives with his wife, who is a homemaker, and his son. They live in the village of La Escribana. He has 10 manzanas of land, which is his own, where he grows corn, beans, taro and achiote.

He is well-known in this community since he is a person of good principles and responsible in his obligations, humble but very hard-working and determined, who always achieves what he sets out to do.

He has a crop of taro and has three-quarters of a manzana of this crop being a very profitable crop but needing significant investment, which is the reason that Elías asks for the loan to purchase fertilizers and manure since he hopes to get a very good harvest.

Elías's dream is that his whole community can work with technical crops so to be able to give a better life to all the families in his village.

This loan is special because:

It has a below-market interest rate and is repaid at harvest, when farmers can more easily repay.
