A loan of $575 helped to buy a wheelbarrow, tarps, herbicide and pesticides.

Valere's story

Valere is a 52-year old married man. He has been living in a village in the region with his family for years. He manages a cacao plantation he inherited from relatives ten years ago. Thanks to this plantation, he supports his family. At this time of the year, he is having trouble maintaining his soil, due to lack of cash flow. Lenders charging exorbitant interest rates take advantage of it: Valere takes on debt and has to give up a sizeable part of his produce to repay it. Every time this prevents him from being able to save money and provide for his family properly.

This is why Valere is applying for a loan, which will allow him to buy a wheelbarrow, tarps, Roundup [a herbicide] as well as pesticides such as Cyplandin Super, Cypeplant and Poudrox, which will allow him to better maintain his soil. In this way, Valere will be able to increase his yield and thus his sales. As a result, he will be able to save money, create another plantation and pay for his children’s schooling.
