A loan of $300 helped to buy farm implements.

Salesio's story

Salesio is an energetic and handsome man. Born in Nyaagi, a rural village in Nkubu, he has lots of enthusiasm and is very resourceful. Since he was a little boy he has demonstrated his talents and knack for farming.

Nyaagi is a remote village in the Nkubu area of Kenya where people live in mud houses and in dismal conditions. But within the remote village of Nyaagi, Salesio is working hard to pull himself out of the dismal conditions. Most smallholder farmers view Salesio as a role model and a mentor because of the resilience that he has despite personal challenges, and his passion to support his four children as a primary caregiver.

Salesio started farming in 2007 after the country suffered post-election violence. With the unstinting support of his wife, who dedicated her time and effort, he has grown the business dramatically. He has acquired numerous income-generating assets, including farm machines. He keeps dairy cattle and grows subsistence and commercial crops, such as maize. He takes pride in being independent and being involved in a sector that feeds the population. Salesio is seeking a loan to buy farm implements such as modern farming tools and seeds. His operations are growing consistently. With your funding, Salesio will expand his farming through buying good quality seeds and using modern farming implements. The additional income will enable him to repay the loan, buy food for his family, and pay fees for his four children.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals and farming equipment.
