A loan of $1,375 helped to buy more fuel to sell.

Surgeon's story

Surgeon is an enterprising and hardworking 35-year-old married man who lives in Kasese, Uganda. 15 years ago, he decided to get involved in a motorcycle transport business after being inspired by friends who were involved in the same business.

He also owns a retail shop for general merchandise alongside a fuel-selling business where he measures the fuel in jerry cans in the rural area, which earns him a supplementary income.

He has the responsibility of paying school fees for his 4 children as well as providing for his family. The challenge with the business is the long distance from where he buys the fuel to his area of operation.

His personal dream is to expand his business into a fuel station, and that is the reason why he is requesting a loan facility to buy more fuel to sell. He is proud of being a Kiva borrower because the facilities he has acquired have enabled him to expand and grow his businesses.

This loan is special because:

It targets extremely rural populations.
