Julia has been working with Kiva partner Manuela Ramos for six years and is a member of the communal bank “San Fernando II.” She invested her first loan of 300 soles (about $100) in food for her restaurant and will do the same with this loan of 3,000 soles. Julia plans to purchase rice, noodles, sugar, oil and other basic necessities for preparing her meals.
For the entire time that she has been working with Manuela Ramos, Julia has been punctual with her loan payments. Her business has grown quite a bit. Now, not only does she sell meals out of her home, but she also prepares lunch for the staff of two nearby businesses: a bank and a petroleum company. Julia’s goal is to help her daughter through university.
