A loan of $800 helped a member to purchase a solar light and increase maize cultivation.

Henry's Group's story

Pictured above is Henry, who, as a group leader, is representing his group formed by 13 farmers in Kimilili District, Kenya. He is married and is a father to three children and is known by his community as a very experienced farmer.

Initially, Henry joined One Acre Fund in 2007 because he wanted to have access to the best seed prices. Since he joined the program, he says that his life has improved, especially because he has been able to consistently feed his family. With the profits from the coming harvesting season, Henry plans to buy more land to cultivate.

Among the 13 farmers in Henry's Group, a total of nine acres of land will be planted using the maize seeds and fertilizer received with the loan. Additionally, some of the farmers in the group will be purchasing a solar light, so with this loan, the group will also receive a total of two solar lights.
