Mrs. Thlang S. is a 57-year-old widow living in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. She lives with her five children, one of whom is a student, and the others have jobs at a small, private company. S. has two sources of income. The first is a small grocery shop that she runs from her home. The second source of income comes from renting out rooms in her house to garment factory workers. In total, she is able to make about $5 per day. She hopes to use this loan in order to build more rooms to rent and also to purchase more grocery items to sell at her store.
