Neang P. is twenty-seven years old and married with two children to whom she is devoted. One of them goes to school but the other is too young to be enrolled. Neang's husband is a fisherman. To help with the family income, Neang grows rice and also feeds a few pigs she keeps in a stall near her house. She will use the loan to buy extra fertilizers to improve her rice crop.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
