A loan of $1,950 helped a member to purchase cattle to resell later.

Jiguiya Group's story

Adiaratou is the woman holding the steer by the horn. She is a Malian livestock farmer, married, and the mother of nine children (seven boys and two girls), aged 13 months to 28 years, respectively. Six of the boys are in school. These days, Adiaratou is 43 years old and has been in this livestock trade for ten years. Her husband is a farmer and helps her very much with her work and encourages her. She purchases the cattle for her livestock business from her town and resells at nearby markets in cash transactions.

She turns to RMCR, since her financial situation is unstable. Her business enables her to help her husband to take better care of the family. Her hope is to improve the family’s living conditions.

The threats to her business include a certain disease unknown to veterinarians and weak market prices at the time of sales. Her wish, one day, is to become a major livestock farmer of cattle, goats, and sheep in the area.
