A loan of $450 helped to pay coaching and educational fees to help her son continue his higher education.

Sumati's story

Manjil, a 23-year-old boy, is a civil engineering student in Sophitorium English College, Bhubaneswar. He stays with his parents in Balangir district, Orissa. Despite all odds and challenges, Manjil has been aspiring to carry on his studies. However, financial issues have always been a great hurdle to prevent him from pursuing them.

His mother, Sumati, is a tailor by profession, and her husband is a private employee. Their monthly income is INR 10,000, but is not sufficient to provide their son with educational help after covering the household expenses. They are willing to provide Manjil with a higher education with the desire that he does not face any obstacles in receiving his education.

Sumati (she is shown in the picture with her son) has applied for an educational loan of INR 30,000 for her son’s uninterrupted education from Mahashakti Foundation, one of Milaap's field partners. With the loan, she will pay the readmission fees and other educational expenses.

Sumati and her family will be thankful to their lenders.

This loan is special because:

It enables women living in rural India to pay for their child's education.
