Ms. Lucia P. is a very humble person from a far-off community in the department of Totonicapan. Her main business activity is embroidery by sewing machine. She has been in this business ever since she was 12 years old. Even today, she still works in this craft, which she inherited from her beloved mother. She states that her neighbors take her their garments so that she can make matching aprons, decorate the pieces, and make blouses. She now needs a loan in order to purchase supplies because she has a large order from a market in the community of Totonicapan.
Doña Lucia ser una persona muy humilde de una comunidad muy lejana del departamento de Totonicapan su actividad principal es el bordado a maquina de coser manual ella viene ejerciendo dicha actividad cuando tenia doce años y hasta la fecha conserva dicho trabajo que lo heredo su querida madrecita, ella narra que sus vecinas de la comunidad le llevan la prendas de vestir para hacerles los delantales, adornos a los cortes, blusas hoy necesita de un credito para la compra de materiales ya que se tiene un pedido para la feria de la comunidad de Totonicapan.

ASDIR (Asociación de Desarrollo Integral Rural - Association for the Development of Rural Communities) is a community-based organization that works to promote development in the villages and communities where it serves. It was founded in 1999 in the village of Nimasac, Totonicapán Department, by a handful of local men and women to support community projects and group loans. Today ASDIR has 5 offices across 3 departments (Totonicapán, Sololá and Suchitepéquez) serving more than 6,000 clients, most of them in rural communities.
