G. Meleyke Alikram kizi is a young businesswomen and she runs a sheep breeding business. Her husband is a teacher, but she is not educated. So she wants to help raise money for her family. She keeps lambs for meat production, but the number of lamb is low, so she would like to increase this number. She applied for a loan of 800 USD for purchasing lambs.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
