Amalia is 60 years old. She is married and has given birth to eight children. Currently they are all working and are living independently.
Amalia sells porridge in her neighborhood. Porridge is one of the local foods enjoyed popularly for breakfast by almost all Ghanaians. It is prepared from milled maize or millet grains, boiled and taken with sugar, milk and bread or taken with what we call Kose. Kose is prepared from milled beans and it is fried with cooking oil so in just about 20 minutes it is ready to be served with the porridge.
With her large customer base, Amalia wants to use the loan to buy more raw materials like bags of millet, beans, sugar and milk to increase production.
