Afia is 45 years old. She is married and is the mother of three children. Her elder son is a carpenter, while the other two are still schooling.
Afia sells smoked fish at the community market where she lives and started her fish sales twenty-one years ago. She buys her stock of fish from Yeji in the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana and sells them on a table in the market and sometimes through hawking (selling door-to-door). She prepares and serves her customers with very tasty and good quality fish and, because of that, many customers buy from her stand.
Afia requests the loan to upgrade her stock of fish. She dreams of giving her children a quality education through the proceeds from her business.
