Fortaleza Group
In this Group: Elvira, Juanita, Elizabeth, Luis, Roxana, Teresa, Mary Selva, Yaneth, Maria Lidia, Sergio, Maria Esther, Dora, Roberto, Jackeline, Nelson
The “Fortaleza” [“Strength”] group is led by Elvira and is composed of 15 members; two of the members, Roxana and Teresa, are sisters, however, because they earn their income independently from each other they pose no risk to the group. The group members are in their second loan cycle and have been punctual and responsible in their payments for which they now count once again with the financial support of the Agrocapital Foundation. This support will be used to expand their businesses in the sale of clothing, food, cosmetics, and groceries, and it will also be used to purchase tools for those members that dedicate themselves to bread making, public transportation, and taxi services. Competition in the commercial sector is high but the experience and drive to get ahead of the group members make it so that they will conquer any obstacle especially because their families depend on it.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
